WORLD SUGAR MARKET - January 2023

The early part of January saw prices decline as index funds were reweighted, away from sugar futures. Trimmed speculative long positions and limited commercial participation, due to further Indian exports quotas becoming unlikely and Brazil production being at its seasonal low, led to a strong rise in raw sugar futures prices at the end of January, reaching a 6-year intra-day high.
